Locked: Final Outcome

Our final horror movie is called Locked, and the concept of it hasn't differed much since the creation of the initial storyboard. We decided to use a drunk man instead of an elderly woman as we couldn't find an actor for the elderly woman. We also changed the ending scene a bit to add tension. The overall storyline of the movie is pretty good if I do say so myself, with good character building, a clear plot, and the actions of the characters seem rational. The sounds effects are on point, although the characters voicelines could definately have been worked on to include more passion and sound more reasonable. I think throughout the movie, there are signs of paranormal activity, and a little bit of tension, but we still didn't nail the feel of a horror movie. The ending to our movie is also pretty weak compared to the rest of it, with no real scare being in place. Overall, the location was great for our movie, and it really felt like a professional location. The shots were varied and pretty good throughout, with different techniques used. The sounds was adequate for a horror movie and the lighting was mostly natural lighting, but I think it is suitable for the most part. However, there are still elements of student film in the final production, with the acting being decent but nothing mind-blowing, the plot again wasn't perfect, and definately didn't deliver a scare of any sorts, although there is mild tension.

We showcased the movie to our friends and they enjoyed it, although they didn't like the close up shots of the character as they didn't look professional which I can see, but I also don't see it as a major problem. They liked the dance scene at the beginning, but they didn't know it was a horror movie until 2 minutes in, which perhaps we could have changed. They also noted that the ending was weak, but also the drunk man scene was student film-like, which I agreed with.

Overall, I think that the movie was an overall success, with a decent production being created. I think that the final product is good for our groups first production. There has been elements of horror theory implemented, but overall we missed the ball on horror movies. This however isn't too bad as I believe that horror movies are very hard to create, to a good standard with limited resources and time.
