Live at the Arts House: A Music Production

Writer: Miles StewartMiles Stewart

Our final production was a music performance showcasing 6 bands. In between performances we had an interview with the bands about upcoming events and various personalised questions. We used a 7-camera set up over 2 studios involving static and free moving cameras. The footage was captured onto an Atem system where the visuals could be mixed live. Afterwards we fixed up colour correction as well as a few cuts in post-production and added credits to finish it off. Overall, I believe that the production was a great success. It was my first time producing a production with extra cast members/performers and so that put a little more pressure onto the situation. Due to great pre-production and rehearsals I felt that all of the crew knew what we were doing and, on the day, we worked very effectively and efficiently. The visuals and audio were very good, and close to what we researched. Whereas the lighting could definitely have been improved and changed around for the different bands if we had more crew as well as more time for rehearsals. The communication between the media degree and the music students beforehand could have been improved so that schedules were ironed out and to prevent the show from starting 30 minutes late, meaning that the last act was cut out. The final outcome turned out very clean and I am very proud of our first relatively large-scale production.
