3 Point-lighting- My next major lesson for recording visuals was 3 point lighting. 3 point lighting allows for subjects to be properly lit, capturing the best footage. It includes the key light of which is the main light, and this can be positioned besides the camera. Along with the key light, you can use a fill light the opposite side of the key light but the light must be less bright. The back light has the lowest brightness, and is positioned behind the subject. We tested the combination of the 3 lights on subjects to look at the difference that 3 point lighting can make. Using all 3 lights allows for the best image, but at least having a key light was really highlighted to me, as it improves the images massively. I didn’t think that light was that important for photography as the majority of photography I had done was outside in natural light, but after this lesson we used lighting for almost all productions and tests. We used combinations of 3 point lighting for all of our studio practices after this day, as it highlighted how much good lighting can really improve the image captured.
