Media Year 2

Updated: Oct 13, 2020

Year 2 of my Media university course has begun, under different circumstances from last year due to the current ongoing world problems. Mostly consisting of online classes, the year will certainly feel a lot different, but with more on the line this year, on terms of getting in to the third year, I will definitely need to improve my media skills and techniques from my work last year.

One of the first sections of the year 2 course is revolving around music videos. First of all, we are learning about music video theory, as well as the history of music videos. With this knowledge, the next task is a client based task, which involves creating a music video for a client of our choice. The genre of music can be anything, which allows for our creativity to go wild.

The live brief for year 1 was a music production, involving the college students from Bridgwater. This year, due to the corona virus, there is a rule of 6, meaning only 6 people is allowed in a room at a time, meaning large scale productions are not possible. So this year, the live brief is online. This year, the live brief is an online award ceremony for Somerset Businesses, and how they have helped young people to gain new skills and evolve. The media for the live brief has been recorded by our lecturer Alan Hardcastle, in the form of online interviews. The corresponding businesses that are involved in the ceremony have sent in clips and images about their businesses and how they have been helping young people out. Our jobs for this production is to co-direct the show, as well as editing the clips together, as well as creating the introduction and the interludes between shows.
