Camera Techniques- On one of the first days on the course, we learnt about the different camera techniques that can be altered and changed to get different images. The techniques include changing features such as the exposure, ISO and shutter speed, and changing each individual value or a combination of all of them can change the picture massively. The exposure is how much light reaches the photographic film. The ISO is how sensitive the lens is to light, such as a lower ISO means the camera is less sensitive to light and so it captures finer grains. Finally the shutter speed is how long the digital sensor in the camera is exposed to light. I knew nothing about cameras beforehand and so the huge influx of information was nerve-racking but over time and experience I understand how to change the values in certain situations better. This was a very important lesson as it lays down the foundation of media, and I would be using cameras a lot for this course so it was very valuable information. I have used this information on photography and videography on many occasions, as it can give a better image then using auto settings, especially when in artificial light, such as in studios.
